Thanksgiving Day Looks: Quarantine Edition
Thanksgiving is literally down the street. I cannot believe how this year has flown yet it has been the longest year ever! This year we won’t be doing our normal celebration with the entire 100+ family members because of the coronavirus. I can’t remember ever having a holiday when the majority of our family didn’t get together. I was sad at first because it felt like wow, is this the beginning of the end of our traditions? No idiot! There is a pandemic! That’s the only reason we can’t be close in person but our hearts are always close. The Scott family Thanksgiving is quite the ordeal. There are literally dozens of family that move in and out of my parents house the entire night. We laugh, we talk extra loud, we dance outside and there is usually a bar set-up outside to keep us warm (wink wink!). After we have eaten and roasted each other, some of us sneak out to do early Black Friday shopping. I will surely miss that this year so in celebration of my dear family I have pulled together just a few looks inspired by a mish mash of characters in my family.
I cooked everything and I’m still cute, now tell me how good the food is!
This look is inspired by my Aunties and my Momma! They work so hard prepping and cooking all of our favorites and then show up looking like “What? Like this is hard?” Their look is usually comfy casual chic. They are always flawless and just as ready for a photo op as us youngsters are.
I’m just stopping by to see yall and grab a plate!
This look mimics the countless family members that drop in and out because they have to visit 800 different households. They grab a plate and dozens of hugs and out the door they go!
I’m leaving early because I am not washing dishes!
This look is a shout out to all my coming of age little cousins. They show us all the latest dance moves and we older cousins try to battle them and sometimes we win! I love looking at them and thinking they have their whole life ahead of them, blemish free. So much hope and potential, but most of all I look at them like I love that I’m no longer in that age group that has to do the dishes after its all over. LOLOL.
I know I’m Extra but I’m giving you life!
This is for those of us that always do too much! Always! I’m sure they’re all thinking hmmm let me look nice but not go over the top but still end up going over the top. I love these family members. I want to be you when I grow up! They prance in after everything is done, just in time to eat.
So there you have it. A snapshot into my Thanksgiving world. To my family, I’m so thankful for all of you and I hate that we can’t be together in person but I love you all to pieces. I can’t wait to see you all. Maybe we can do Thanksgiving again in May? I hope everyone has a wonderfully fabulous Thanksgiving! XOXO
Until next time,
-K
